"We try to grab piece of our lives as they speed past us. Photographs freeze those pieces and help us remember how we were. We don't know these lost people but if you look around, you'll find someone just like them." Gene McSweeney

Stairway To ...

The stairway looks spooky-creepy in the light of my salt lamp. I like the reflection of the railing against the wall.

Hurray, spring!

Opinionated!

I snapped this pic through my rainy windshield, so it isn't of the greatest quality. This car was stopped in front of me at a stoplight. The oxymoronic nature of her bumper stickers really strikes me. She seems to be saying, "I support peoples' right to choose, but they shouldn't choose to eat meat."
I might be being a little harsh and overly-jaded, however. People in general are kinda bugging me lately.

Kokopelli

I dig these dudes, and I dig them dancing on the carpet.
What I didn't dig was the woman sitting behind me in the restaurant who shockingly proclaimed to her companion, in reference to me, "that lady is taking a picture of the carpet!" It hurt my feelings a little.

Respite

This fountain outside a hotel near my work caught my eye, and I really like that I got the birdy in the shot. After I downloaded it though, I wished I had zoomed out more. The yellow in the bottom right corner is the curb of a busy parking lot, and the white at the top is a van dropping off and picking up people at/from the hotel. There was a lot of hustle and bustle around, and blocking it out was my first instinct. Looking at the shot now, though, I think the fountain would have appeared more peaceful when framed with the surrounding goings-on.

Brush-a Brush-a Brush-a

Oral hygiene is very important.

Happy Easter!

This is one of Samira's bunny slippers. I wanted to take an Easter-related photo today, and this is the best I could come up with.

Book List

I have quite a backlog of books to read. Lately, its all I can do to finish reading the Sunday paper before they deliver another the next week.

72 Degrees

Not much to say about this one.

Night Light

I snapped a few "better than nothing" shots tonight of the dogs, the dogs' toy chest, and a spider web. When I came upstairs to upload them to the computer, I was struck by how neat this tree looked through the mini-blinds.

Fish Out Of Water

This guy hangs out on a bookshelf in the executive area of my office building. He always seems a little out of place to me.

Geometry

This design decorates the top of a building that I see regularly. Kinda interesting. Certainly better than plain ol' flat white, that's for sure.

Deli

Beth and I had lunch at the Deli today. They have a huge mural painted on the back wall in the dining area, and a smaller one in the kitchen. This is a portion of the large one. One of my photography goals is to become more comfortable using the stitch assist feature, but the time to practice that is not in the middle of a deli during lunch rush.

Green

I call my pothos plant both Heracles and Megala because it has grown entwined with a few clippings from Becca's plant, Hercules.

Hundred Thousand Welcomes

St. Paddy's weekend!
I had a great time at ShamrockFest today. All the day's pics are posted here.

Spring Robin

I stayed home from work today with a sinus headache. The weather was pretty dreary and overcast, but I snapped this shot of a little robin, as well as some birds hanging out in a tree and a nest. I'm not overly happy with the way any of them turned out. When the weather is cloudy, I need to try to snap my shots before dusk, thereby taking advantage of the most light possible.

Robots In Disguise

... in this case, disguised as the door to the gas tank on an otherwise unremarkable little Honda.

Ouch! Thanks for the warning.

Arf!

This bumper sticker is on the car of one of my colleagues, so I often see it in the parking lot at work. I like it.

Raindrop Twofer

The top photo was taken without flash, through the driver side window of my car, with the sky in the background. The one on the bottom looks through the windshield, with a building as the background, and used flash. I can't decide which I prefer. I really like that you can see the cloud in the background of the first. And the prism effect in the second turned out pretty cool, too.

Leaves of Time

My "Autumn Leaves" series didn't work out the way I had envisioned, but I still really like the idea. My new plan is to take shots less frequently (monthly perhaps?) throughout the whole year. I hope it works. It looks so cool in my head.

Sunset

This is my first sunset photo. It doesn't do it justice. Hopefully, I will improve.
I also have a back-up shot for today. I think I could have made a really nice picture out of these if it hadn't been so dark.

Mermaid

This water nymph adorns the bar of an Afghan restaurant in Falls Church. She spoke to me, figuratively.
